Mr. John Robson Obituary - Hamiliton Victoria
General regret was expressed in the Hamilton district when it was reported that Mr. John Robson had died in Melbourne on Sunday morning. The desceased gentleman who was born at Cheviot Hills, Scotland landed at Robe South Australia when he was aged twenty-three years and for a lengthy period was manager of the Mundarra Estate in the Apsley District for Mr. Laidlaw. After that he occupied positions as Manager for Mr. W. Bayles at Moyne Falls for the Hon. N. Thornley at Meadow Lands, and for Mr. Jas. Trangmar at Morgiana. He was Manager Morgiana, Bochara and Violet Creek for the Estate. When these stations were sold Mr. Robson took up some properties on his own account, but for the last few years his health had been indifferent and he lived a retired life. Mr. Robson was recognised as an expert judge of all kinds of stock and a skilful Manager of big estates. He took very little part in public, but his sterling integrity of character won for him hosts of genuine friends, and he was highly respected in all parts of the district. He was twice married and a widow and family of six are left to mourn their loss. The members of the first family are Messrs. George and Stan Robson (Hamilton) Mr. Andrew Robson (South Australia), Mr. Syd. Robson (Stawell) and Mrs. C. Platt (Mary) (California). Mr. Donald Robson (Mordialloc) is a son of the second marriage. The funeral is appointed to take place this afternoon when the remains will be interred in the Cheltenham Cemetery.

Annie died at 40 very young when Sydney was only six years old. John remarried a Janetta (Jessie) McKenzie and had one son called Donald but she made the other children unwelcome and they left home early as the story goes. Mary left on a world tour but got as far as America "Arrowhead Lake" area Arizona where she married a Ranger Cleo Platt who was shot and died in a robbery. Mary had two daughters Shirley and Doreece who lived in San Diego area. Doreece is still alive and lives in Reno Nevada with a son and Shirley's six children are spread out. I sent photos of their mother that Nana (Ivy Catharine Thomson) had had and were glad to see them when they were younger especially Shirley sitting in a pram cutting her teeth on a six shooter and others in the high plains with reindeers too good to throw out so this is why I tracked them down in America.
